First Presbyterian Church of Plano has about 200 members. In addition to the membership, the vitality of the church also lies in its service to the community:
  • Organized the Plano Coop Pre-School to teach English to Spanish American children.
  • Sponsored a homeless family under the Presbyterian Housing Program organized by Grace Presbytery. The parents have now purchased a home, improved their job situation, and the children are attending local schools.
  • Sponsored three Vietnamese families under the Church World Service Asian Refugee Resettlement Program.
  • Provided facilities for Plano Police Sergeant exams and an AID's interfaith support group.
  • Been represented on the Board for the formation of the first Plano Community Home.
  • Provided facilites to carry on mission work with the Latino community in Plano.
  • Supply a local Blood Bank on a regular basis.
  • House the Plano Clothes Closet which has served faithfully for more than thirty years those within the community needing clothing, blankets and diapers.
  • Provide facilites for a Boy Scouts troop, and several Girl Scout troops.
  • Participate in the Plano Ministerial Alliance.

The tightly-knit congregation is committed to increasing the membership of the congregation. Members are loving and supportive of both each other and the church. We are truly a family. Visitors are warmly welcomed and new members are assimilated into the church family quickly. Members gravitate to Sunday services and special Christian holiday worship services, especially Christmas and Easter.
