Our history begins with a Cumberland Presbyterian Church which was started on the Texas frontier in a timber tract on Spring Creek in Collin County.

The First Presbyterian Church of Plano dates its organization from a meeting on September 11, 1871. A deed was signed in June 1873 by Henry Dye selling one acre of land to the Church for $100. This land was situated on what is now the west side of Avenue K, south of 15th Street. The new church building was dedicated in 1874. The white frame building had one room, homemade benches, a pulpit, a pump organ that took two to play -- one to pump and one to play, and a big pot bellied stove.

A larger church building was built and dedicated on December 12, 1898. This building was located at the corner of 15th Street and Avenue L. But in 1938, the lovely little church caught fire which is said to have burned many old church records. On April 15, 1939 the newly rebuilt church, complete with memorial stained glass windows, was finished and dedicated.

First Presbyterian Church moved to its present location at 15th and Jupiter in December of 1967. The memorial stained glass windows from the old church are now installed in the current church building. We are especially proud of our Casavant-Freres Limitee Pipe Organ, installed in 1985.
