We
place a high priority on our ministry to youth. We aim to help our children
grow in Christ and to relate their faith to the practical issues faced in an
increasingly complex society. Intentionally organized around a "wholistic
growth," we are providing a spectrum of structured experiences for children and
youth, associating them with adults and peers, emphasizing sharing, growth,
tolerance and knowledge of our Biblical Faith...applied to human
situations.
Youth Ministry teaches Christian values through sports, camping, shared
projects, service, spiritual retreats, and adult and peer example. Leadership
is never taken for granted, and men and women are solicited to be "Youth
Sponsors" who give clear example of faith-at-work in their lives. Youth
Ministry is intentional, with each event done for a clear purpose: To assist
youth to grow in Christ through association, example, study and fellowship.
Children's Ministry is a part of Christian Education. Many "lessons" in
Sunday School teach faith as it applies to playtime, home and getting along
with other children. Respect for authority, Chirstian value formation,
self-esteem and appropriate self-expression are important factors in our
program. Even in our Choirs these values are continually taught, and parents
are often enlisted to assist in guiding children through the many states of
development toward Christian maturity.
Scheduled Activities for Middle School and High School Youth are
normally on Sundays after the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Youth meetings are
normally not scheduled during holidays, and the schedule is sometimes irregular
during the summer months. Special outings (retreats, service projects, bowling,
skating, etc.) are planned from time to time.
